Yesterday was the 14th anniversary of The Battle of Hogwarts, and I was incredibly busy all day celebrating and marking the occasion so I had no time to write up anything commemorative. I guess the worst part of yesterday was the lack of fanfare from people who I remember being ‘committed potter heads’ last year when the final film came out… but now it seems like everyones moved on…  My biggest question yesterday was why am I different? Why can’t I let go of this? Why is it still so important to me? … I know that no one is going to read this, and I know everyone thinks I’m weird and lame… but I think, for me anyway, the facts of the matter are these: In my whole entire life, everyone I have ever known has left me alone when I needed them at some point in my relationship with them… that’s everyone… friends, family… EVERYONE. But the Harry Potter series were the singular constant in my constantly changing life… Harry and Ron and Hermione never left me alone. They never let me down. They gave me hope, and strength and taught me the meaning of friendship, love, sacrifice and courage… and that is a really really big deal. So yesterday, whilst everyone else was doing whatever they were doing, I got up at 6am, and spent the entire day going through the 8 films, and I got a tattoo (picture below) that reminds me of everything good that I have had in my life up until now… and all of those good things have in some way been linked to Harry Potter… I know very few people will truly understand when I say that Harry Potter saved my life, in so many ways, so many times… and to remember the day he sacrificed himself to save everyone else… it just isn’t something i could let pass. I’m sorry to have clogged up anyone’s dashboard with this… but it needed to be said, even if no one else reads it ever. Until the very end x
